Library
A library well equipped with books is an asset to an educational institution. Our students have easy access to various learnable resources like books, computers, and encyclopaedias which provides them with the information they need to learn and build their intelligence. The school has a vast library with more than 39,000 books, magazines, journals, newspapers, and access to an e-library.
Hostel

JSS School, Suttur has hostel facilities that can house more than 2500 students. It has separate blocks for boys and girls. These two hostels are named after Lord Basaveshwara and Akkamahadevi. The girls’ hostel building was inaugurated in 2009 by the then President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil. The hostels are administered by trained and experienced staff. Wardens are supported by 45 caretakers, 20 cooks, and 20 ayahs who are committed to the well-being of the students. The hostels are well-equipped with necessary facilities and are well-secured, which help the children to grow in a safe environment similar to their homes.


Ameneties
The hostel has spacious rooms with beds and cupboards for each student.
Healthy, nourishing, and balanced vegetarian meals are provided to the students.
Doctors and nurses are appointed to provide round-the-clock medical care.
It has a large dining hall with a seating arrangement for 800 students in the Basaveshwara hostel and 500 students in the Akkamahadevi hostel.
Study room, where caretakers assist children in their studies.
Cleanly maintained bathrooms and toilets with hot water facilities (40,000 litres capacity).
Basaveshwara hostel has 32 rooms, and the Akkamahadevi hostel has 54 rooms.
Basaveshwara hostel has a warden, a supervisor, and 29 caretakers.
Akkamahadevi hostel is looked after by a warden, a supervisor, and seven caretakers.
Medical care – The school has 24×7 medical care facilities with nurses and pharmacists. In case of serious ailments, students are shifted to the hospital by informing the guardian. The school has its ambulance service available on campus in case of emergency.
Hostel routine(week days)
Wake Up 5:00 am – 5:30 am for 5th to 10th std students and 5:30 am – 6:00 am for 1st t0 4th std students
Morning Mass Prayer 6:00 am– 6:30 am for all students
Shower 6:45 am- 7:45 am
Room cleaning 6:30 am – 7:00 am by assigned students
Study time 7:45 am – 8:15 am for 1st to 7th std students and 8:15 am– 8:45 am for 8th to 10th std students
Breakfast 8:15 am– 8:45 am for 1st to 7th std students and 8:45 am – 9:20 am for 8th to 10th std students
Get ready for school 9:20 am– 9:45 am for 1st to 10th std students
School 10:00 am– 4:30 pm for 1st to 10th std students
Lunch Hour 1:00 pm– 1:30 pm for 1st to 7th std students 1:30 pm– 2:15 pm for 8th to 10th std students
Playtime after school 4:40 pm – 5:45 pm for 1st to 10th std students
Evening Mass Prayer 6:00 pm– 6:30 pm for 1st to 10th std students
Study Time 6:45 pm– 7: 30 pm for 1st to 7th std students 6:45 pm– 8:00 pm for 8th to 10th std students
Dinner 7:30 pm– 8:00 pm for 1st to 7th std students and 8:00 pm – 8:30 pm for 8th to 10th std students
Study Time 9:00 pm– 10:00 pm for 1st to 7th std students 9:00 – 10:30 8th to 10th std students
On Saturdays and Sundays parents are allowed to visit their wards between 3:30 pm– 5:30 pm and 11:00 am– 12:45 pm/ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm respectively.
Our Caretakers
The caretakers compulsorily stay in the students ‘rooms allotted to them.
They take care of all the matters of the children, including studies, food, health, habits, discipline, etc.
They are present with the students during the parents’ visit and connect with the parents.
They regularly examine whether the lights and water taps are not left on as soon as the students leave their rooms.
They inform guardians if any students are seriously ill or injured.
They look after the children who are sick.
They take unwell children to the doctor and nurse them with medicines and food as prescribed by the doctor till they recover.
They make sure that the children from 1st to 4th std are doing well.
They help the young children with their daily chores like taking bathe and dressing.
In case of long absence, they inform the concerned class teacher and the headmaster and assist the children in their academics.
They ensure that the rooms, corridors, bathrooms, and hostel surroundings are kept neat and clean.
Laboratories
Laboratories provide students with first-hand experience and provide better opportunities for learning. The school has modern, well-equipped science laboratories that help students research, experiment or even explore and discover new things. Because of the increased use of modern technology, computers play a major role in schools. The computer lab has 70 computers with a well-connected internet facility.
