Suttur, November 30, 2024: In an outstanding achievement, Sri V. Vinod Kumar, a Physics teacher at the Suttur JSS Free Residential School, has secured a remarkable second prize at the State-level Science Exhibition Competition for High School Teachers. The Department of School Education and Literacy, Directorate of Urdu and Other Minority Languages Schools, Government of Karnataka, and the Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT), Kodeyalabayalu, Mangaluru, and Dakshina Kannada District had jointly organised this event.
The competition witnessed the participation of 35 teachers from various districts across Karnataka, who showcased their innovative prototypes, models, and inventions in categories including Science, Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Engineering.
Sri Vinod Kumar captivated the judges with his two inventive models:
- ‘Smart Iron Box’: A groundbreaking innovation designed to prevent accidents while ironing clothes. If the user forgets to switch off the iron, the ‘Smart Iron Box’ automatically lifts itself about one inch, protecting the clothes from burning.
- ‘Smart Chair’: This ingenious model integrates technology to conserve electricity. When a person sits on the chair, a light, fan, and air conditioner are activated automatically. These devices turn off once the person gets up, ensuring energy efficiency.
The innovative brilliance of these models earned Sri Vinod Kumar second place, qualifying him to represent Karnataka in the National-level South India Science Competitions, scheduled to be held in Puducherry in the third week of January 2025.
The achievement has been widely celebrated by the administrative officers, coordinating officers, headmasters, and Suttur JSS Free Residential School teachers, who congratulated Sri Vinod Kumar for this commendable feat.
Sri Vinod Kumar’s success is a testament to the school’s commitment to fostering creativity, innovation, and excellence in education.
